India Women’s Hockey Player Poonam Rani Expresses Disappointment After Being Overlooked For Arjuna Award

Indian women’s Hockey team’s Poonam Rani on Sunday expressed disappointment with this year’s Arjuna Award announcement and raised dilemma about staying ”ignored” for the accolade. “I am striving for the Arjuna Award for the last three a long time. All of my fellow players have gained it but I am staying overlooked. I come to feel poor for the reason that I am also just one of the players who work challenging and carry out for the country. If I never have an strategy, it doesn’t necessarily mean I can’t be conferred with Arjuna Award,” Rani explained to ANI.
Hockey players Deepika and Akashdeep Singh have been picked for this year’s Arjuna Award. As lots of as 27 athletes have been chosen to get the Arjuna Award this year. Also, Indian women’s hockey workforce captain Rani Rampal will be conferred with the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award.
Rani also feels that the Nationwide Sporting activities Awards Range Committee is not “participating in fair” and there is “favoritism”.
“I assume that there is favoritism and the committee is not participating in fair for the reason that, for the past three a long time, my title is staying overlooked. Finding a medal in a workforce game is not an effortless process. The players who have received the award, I am joyful for them but the committee should really have proposed other deserving players as very well,” she mentioned.

Arjuna Award is an honour bestowed by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sporting activities to recognise the accomplishment of athletes. The award carries a dollars prize, a bronze statue of Arjuna and a scroll.
“I assume the selection of awards in workforce video games should really be improved so that good players can also get the awards. I am also just one of the players of the workforce that has performed lots of tournaments. Some others have received the award but not me. I am also deserving, why I am staying overlooked?” Rani additional.
