Grant Napear out as Kings play-by-play announcer following ‘All Lives Matter’ tweet

Grant Napear resigned as the Kings’ TV play-by-play announcer and was fired from KHTK radio in Sacramento on Tuesday.  

Napear was previously placed on administrative leave after he tweeted “All Life Make any difference… Every single single one particular.” His tweet was in reaction to previous Kings centre DeMarcus Cousins, who asked Napear for his take on the Black Life Make any difference movement amid throughout the world protests stemming from the demise of George Floyd.

KHTK’s father or mother firm, Bonneville International Company, reported in a assertion that Napear’s responses “do not replicate the sights or values” of the firm, and the timing of his tweet was “significantly insensitive.”

The Kings thanked Napear for his “contributions to the staff” in a assertion shared Tuesday night time, and Napear additional he will “usually continue to be a element of Kings country.”

“I’m not as educated on BLM as I thought,” Napear reported in an apology Monday to the Sacramento Bee. “I had no thought that when I reported ‘All Life Matter’ that it was counter to what BLM is hoping to get throughout.”
