Trey Mancini made it to the finals of the 2021 Dwelling-Run Derby, but arrived up just shorter to Pete Alonso from the New York Mets.

The Baltimore Orioles’ first baseman and outfielder strike 24 house runs in the first round, beating Oakland’s Matt Olson, who arrived up shorter with 23.
Then, in the semifinals, Colorado’s Trevor Story went first and strike twelve house runs only to be bested by Mancini, who strike 13.
In the ultimate round, Mancini went first, hitting 22 house runs. Alonso then went six for six in a 28-second extend to give him 23 homers in the ultimate round.

“Trey’s story is just unbelievable and I am just delighted he was able to participate and put on a show,” Alonso informed ESPN.
Alonso, 26, is the 3rd again-to-again Dwelling-Run Derby champion. Corridor of Famer Ken Griffey Jr. (1998-99) and Yoenis Céspedes (2013-14) are the only other players to get two straight.
Mancini, 29, leads the O’s in house runs, and his comeback story just after his struggle with Phase III colon most cancers is generating him a lover favorite across the league. He was diagnosed during spring coaching last yr and missed the pandemic-shortened 2020 year.
