South Carolina receives NCAA notice for basketball program
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina became the newest university to receive an NCAA notice of allegations over the federal probe into higher education basketball.
Athletic director Ray Tanner explained Thursday the university obtained the notice about a violation alleged to have been dedicated by former assistant coach Lamont Evans, who worked for coach Frank Martin for four seasons from 2012-thirteen to 2015-sixteen.
The NCAA classified the infraction as Degree I, the most major of its violations. The NCAA’s letter explained a panel of the Committee on Infractions really should overview what it referred to as a “severe breach of perform.”
Evans, who moved on to Oklahoma State, was billed in September 2017 and admitted very last calendar year to accepting $22,000 in bribes as a higher education assistant to link players with runner Christian Dawkins and other people hoping to signify them right after higher education.

Evans was just one of four higher education assistant coaches who had been arrested and billed by the federal authorities in 2017.
