Ravinder Pal Singh, Moscow Olympics Gold Medal Winner With Indian Hockey Team, Dies Of COVID-19



Previous India hockey player and member of the Indian team that won the gold medal at the 1980 Moscow Olympics, Ravinder Pal Singh, died of COVID-19 on Saturday. Sports activities minister Kiren Rijiju tweeted to share the information of Ravinder’s dying and paid his condolences. “I am deeply saddened to discover that Shri Ravinder Pal Singh ji has shed the battle to Covid19,” Rijiju tweeted. “With his passing away India loses a golden member of the hockey team that won Gold in the 1980 Moscow Olympics. His contribution to Indian athletics will usually be remembered. Om Shanti.” 

Hockey India tweeted to fork out their condolences to Ravinder’s relatives.

Ravinder experienced been battling COVID-19 for two months and breathed his final in Lucknow.

He experienced been admitted to the Vivekananda Medical center on April 24 right after contracting the virus.

Beside winning the gold at 1980 Video games, Ravinder also played at 1984 Los Angeles Olympics and 1979 Junior Planet Cup. 

He worked at Point out Bank of India in Lucknow in advance of taking voluntary retirement.

India hockey player SV Sunil paid his condolences to the previous Olympian.

“Deeply saddened by the passing of Ravinder Pal Singh sir, member of the 1980 Gold-winning Olympics team. It was a unit which taught generations of us the value of dream, perseverance and tricky operate. Might his soul rest in peace,” Sunil tweeted.
