No. 1 Men’s Swimming and Diving grabs lead after day one at NCAA Championships
GREENSBORO, N.C. — The No. one College of Texas Men’s Swimming and Diving crew captured the 800-lawn freestyle relay to hold the lead following Wednesday’s opening night of the four-day NCAA Championship meet up with at the Greensboro Aquatic Middle. UT’s quartet of junior Drew Kibler, senior Austin Katz, freshman Carson Foster and senior Jake Sannem registered a time of six:07.twenty five in the lone party contested on Wednesday.
Kibler opened the relay with an impressive hard work of one:30.65 in his leadoff leg, when Katz followed with a split of one:33.02. Foster registered a one:31.55 on his third leg to give Texas a slender lead, and Sannem sealed the win with a split of one:32.03. The mark established a Greensboro Aquatic Middle pool report, topping the past time of six:11.eighty four by Louisville in 2019. California put next in a time of six:08.68, and Texas A&M took third (six:ten.79).
Texas enters day two in initially position in the crew standings with forty points, just in advance of California (34), Texas A&M (32) and Florida (30). Thursday’s action will function competitiveness in the two hundred-lawn freestyle relay, five hundred-lawn freestyle, two hundred-lawn personal medley, fifty-lawn freestyle, one-meter diving and 400-lawn medley relay.
