Diving’s Matt Scoggin named Assistant Coach for Team USA
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — University of Texas Head Diving Mentor Matt Scoggin has been named the U.S. Olympic Diving Staff Assistant Mentor for the 2020 Olympic Game titles, United states Diving introduced Monday. The XXXII Olympic Game titles diving competitiveness is scheduled for July twenty five-Aug. 7 at the Tokyo Aquatics Center.
This will mark the fourth Olympiad that Scoggin will serve in a coaching position with Staff United states, as he previously worked in 2000 (Sydney), 2008 (Beijing) and 2012 (London). Scoggin also was a member of the 1992 U.S. Olympic Diving staff.
“It is normally an honor to perform with Staff United states, primarily at an Olympic Game titles,” Scoggin stated. “Getting Alison (Gibson), Jordan (Windle) and Hailey (Hernandez) on this Olympic Staff can make it even far more of an honor for me. We are all so very pleased to be portion of Staff United states in Tokyo!”
Drew Johansen will serve as Head Mentor for Staff United states in Tokyo. In addition to Johansen and Scoggin, six added people will vacation to Tokyo with United states Diving as personalized coaches, which includes Jeff Bro, Dwight Dumais, John Proctor, Adam Soldati, John Wingfield and Jianli You.
Throughout the new U.S. Olympic Trials – Diving, 3 divers with ties to The University of Texas certified for Staff United states – previous Longhorn Alison Gibson (Women’s Synchronized 3-meter Springboard), senior Jordan Windle (Men’s ten-meter Platform) and incoming freshman Hailey Hernandez (Women’s 3-meter Springboard).
Scoggin was tabbed the 2021 Division I Men’s Diving Mentor of the Year by the School Swimming Coaches Association of The usa (CSCAA). He also swept the Big 12 Men’s and Women’s Diving Mentor of the Year accolades all through the 2021 year.
