Daytona 500 crash: Watch the big wreck that collected half the field in 2020 NASCAR season-opener
“The large one particular” appeared inescapable as drivers increased their aggressiveness with seventeen laps to go in the 2020 Daytona 500. Absolutely sure enough, the massive crash transpired on the Daytona Intercontinental Speedway backstretch on Lap 184, a wreck that brought out a red flag with 16 laps to go.
Joey Logano, functioning on the outside of a two-huge area, was pushing Aric Almirola down the backstretch, but matters went wrong when Almirola achieved the again bumper of Brad Keselowski. The bump was far too potent, and Keselowski was turned into the outside wall. They had been functioning towards the front of the area, so you can imagine what transpired next.

“Was having a big drive,” Almirola was heard indicating on his radio soon after the crash. “Attempted to check out of the throttle a very little bit, but I just hooked him.”
Concerned in the incident had been 19 drivers: Keselowski, Almirola, Kurt Busch, Jimmie Johnson, Martin Truck Jr., Bubba Wallace, Alex Bowman, Austin Dillon, Tyler Reddick, Ryan Blaney, Ty Dillon, Matt DiBenedetto, Brendan Gaughan, Justin Haley, David Ragan, John Hunter Nemechek, Chris Buescher and Ross Chastain.
UPDATE: One more crash, on Lap 198, collected nine more autos and brought out another red flag. It would established up the initial attempt at an overtime complete.
